The Friday Story

I HAVE A BOX OF MEMORIES

I have a box of memories.
Shining, bright, and bold.
I have a box of memories.
Some warm, some very cold.

I put aside the red for times of anger and frustration.
I tossed away the black for times of broken promises.
I threw away the white for moments of my despair.
I broke the orange for times I turned away and didn't care.

I grabbed the yellow for the joy of laughter.
I held the green for times of growth and wonder.
I drew gold for the times I won a prize
I wrote in violet for the moments I felt confident and wise.

I colored it blue to dream of my future with my wife.
I sketched pink for playing with my daughters, who we will give life to.
I drew silver for splashing with my son in the pool.
I wrote in gray-blue to welcome the soft breeze and pillow clouds that kept us all cool.

I have a box of memories.
Relaxing, enriching, and fun.
I have a box of memories.
It is enlivening my senses under a rising sun.

Where has time gone?
Where will I go?
What’s next?
Say it isn’t so!

I have a box of memories.
The box top is now closed.
Tomorrow, I will open the box top
And who knows? What will come out?

I will choose the colors to draw a beautiful life.
Writing, drawing, and sketching of what may come true.
A rainbow of love, laughter, and joy,
A box of memories from me to you.

Until Next Friday,
